The Big Decisions

I am often amazed at how many decisions I am faced with in any given day.  Do I choose to eat this for lunch, do I want to wear this, how do I accomplish this task with excellence.  If we counted all of the decision we actually make in a day I think we would be shocked.  Of course not all of the decision are truly life changing important, but it reminds me how one decision can literally snow ball into a others very quickly.  Why am I talking about this today?  Well, I guess it has made me think about the decisions we make on a daily basis to follow our dreams or to allow them to quietly pass by without ceremony.  I have decided that I want to make decision that fuel my passions for life and allow me to follow my dreams.  I come in contact daily with people who wish they were doing something different or wish they could.  I think we should start living for our dreams again as we did when we were kids.  I was inspired by a fellow photographer @Jasmine-Star, who wrote a book chronicling her triumphs and failing in becoming the person she wanted to be.  It was inspiring to be given permission to follow your dreams and make mistakes along the way.  I challenge you today to do the same.  Take the leap and follow the path less travelled by most and Follow your dreams!

Senior Drape Shots

Ill be honest with you Senior drape shots in my opinion our extremely outdated and boring, but we do them for our clients because the schools require them to have them for the yearbook. I have recently done some senior photos for Hannah and she has been so much fun to work with. We did a senior shoot in the rain at the Papa John’s Headquarters. The photos came out amzing and Hannah really got photos done that were personal to her. She loves the rain. I got a call from her recently because she had gotten drape photos done by a large company at her school and they turned out horrible. The colors were wrong, the exposure was wrong. I was more than happy to help her to get a photo for her yearbook. It feels good to know that she will have the nicest photo in her yearbook.

Our Family Trip to Florida

We took some much needed R&R and took a vacation in St. Petersburg Florida. We suprised our girls with a trip to Disney World and enjoyed the going to Fort Desoto Beach . It was definately a trip to remember. The girls got to meet all the princesses at Disney World. It was magical for them.

Seraphine Family Portrait

I really enjoyed meeting and photographing the Saraphine family photos. They just had their third child Caroline. She is a beautiful baby and I really enjoyed photographing Caroline and her Mom together. I wanted to capture the love and connection between them.

The next photo I added some texture and created a frame around the photo. I wanted to create a painterly look that represented that of the Madonna and child paintings. The relationship between the Mom and Child is beautifully portrayed.

This image of the boys really captures their personality. I really didn’t want them to have to make a fake smile for the portrait. I just let them be themselves. The boys really have a great relationship with each other. It really shows in their photos.

I love this Photo in Black and white. It really shows the beautiful light that wrapped around the moms face and on the babies face. Its really natural light. I could have thrown a fill flash in there, but it would have completely taken the effect of the light coming in and take away from the beautiful texture of the moms and babies skin.

I love this photo of the boys and their Mom.

Hannah Browns Senior Rain Shoot

We Really enjoyed Photographing Hannah’s Senior photos. She really wanted to have her Senior Photos taken in the rain. I was all for it. When we started out it was not raining, we both were a little bummed. We managed to get some really nice shots at the Papa John’s Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. Hannah was a natural. We really didn’t have to make her feel comfortable at all. We all had such a blast.

Finally the rain started and we covered our equipment and got out our umbrellas. I held a umbrella in my left hand while holding the camera in my right hand. Thank God for Cotton carrier or this would not have been possible. We had a 580 exII flash with a Pocket Wizard on a light stand. We also used a Wescott Soft box over the 580. My wife manned the light which we had to the left of the camera at a 45 degree angle. We protected the equipment by taping plastic over the light. It diddn’t look pretty but it worked like a charm. When the rain started you could tell Hannah was happy she got her rain. The light was really soft and really helped create the beutiful light we had. I also used a warm expo disc to create the warm skin tones. We definately are up to a rain shoot in the future it was a blast.
